Decompression lever tapping 89 350d

Hello all,

I’ve had a few issues starting my 1989 trx 350d and I think it might be related to the decompression lever.

At the moment all the plastics are off including the air intake pipes and I want to point out that the choke on the card is seized, also when running there is quite a loud tapping noise even though I have adjusted the tappets.

So, as the choke is seized I have been starting the quad from cold by putting my hand over the air intake to force more petrol in and today I noticed that when it was turning over there was no suction felt on my hand for quite a while then all of a sudden I felt the pull of the air being sucked in and then the engine fired almost immediately. The loud tapping started as normal but this time I just happened to touch the decompression lever and it was almost as though this was getting hit at the same time as the engine tapped…

just to point out too that although there is no smoke on starting if I let the engine run for a while there will be some smoke and this gets far worse if I turn off the engine off for 10 to 15 mins once warm and then start it up again, that said it clears up after a while.

So, my question is I suppose can I adjust or remove this decompression lever assuming this is related to my problem starting to see if it helps?

Renegade XMR, mod advice, whats recommended?

hey guys, like I mention before, I’m from the scrambler 1000 world, and my scrambler was heavy modified and to be honest was a pain in the but at the end, why I decided to trade it in for a renegade XMR, I had a lot of power train issue, diffs, tranny, belt and clutching issue and there was poor aftermarket support

so anyways, I ordered an RJWC, full dual exhaust system and EFI controller, for the renegade

my goals are reaching 110 – 120 hp, since it has the maverick head from factory any good maverick aftermarket cam/high compression piston combination, what are the most popular mod to get those horsepower#? except nos or turbo, don’t want to go that route,

also the clearance of the bike is bugging me a bit would like to be atleast 16 inch+ but I bought on my scrambler a 3inch catvos lift, one side was crooked and rode like shit and the fitment was pretty poor, had to pry a lot to get it in place and then bought a OUTKAST 3 inchlift, the fitment was to loose, while riding it was cluncking a lot cuz a arm move to much and woudnt keep grease on the bushing, but everything was strait atleast lol,

I would like a 4 inch lift would like to stay away from the 6 inch lift, what are good options out there?

if I could get the height factor fix and the performance I want to reach, I would be very happy after that,

also anybody know if I can change the steel cable for the 3000 warn winch to regular rope, don’t like steel cables

xmr 570 handling

My girlfriend bought a 570 xmr back in September. Since she got it the handling has been a little disappointing, first the biggest problem is very tippy when off camber especially when you go slow. The other issue is the machine can’t make a circle to save it’s life. The only time it will turn is on dry pavement but even still it feels likee iit’s pushing.

I noticed how tippy it was yesterday, trying to turn around on a slight hill kept lifting the uphill wheel and didn’t give any confidence no matter how I leaned. Same when trying to crawl over a 6" log again on a very slight hill. I backed up and hit the log slightly above walking speed and you barely knew it was there.

I went one click higher on the preload in the rear to see if that makes a difference and after reading I’m wondering if I should do a small pipe lift.

When we first got the machine I ended up disconnecting the rear sway bar to help with some of the rear tire lift when turning on flat ground and let the machine stay flat over slower obstacles. That helped a lot but it still needs work.

The other options I might try are wheel spacers or different tires from the mudzillas

I know the xmr won’t ride like my renegade but it’s scary anytime you have one wheel more than 6" higher or lower than the opposite side

650 Outlander blowing starter relays

Hey guys, I just picked up a 2007 650 for my son, the bike has been ridden but well maintained or so it seemed. Had it looked at by a mech friend and since he did some basic maintenance on it, it wont start any more, It keeps blowing starter relays and we cant find the problem, checked the solinoid, checked the starter, and all visable connetions but can not seem to find where the issue is, any advice, im not electrically adept so bear with me and my questions.

Thanks
