cant get engine to cut off…

2000 sportsman 500 H.O.. has a new key switch,on/off switch, cdi and stator. (stator is the generic one from china). speedo is no good. cranks and runs great but it will not cut off with left handle bar switch or key switch. i know the kill wire (black) on cdi must receive a ground to kill the spark. it is receiving a ground when switched to the off position but it does not kill the spark. The only way i can get the spark to die is if i take the brown wire (ground wire for cdi) and unhook it. any help would be appreciated

New electricial trick

I have a 2008 sportsman 800. Today I went on a little ride with my daughter and at the furthest possible point from my house I stopped and turned the handlebars and it the gas and the whole thing died. Speedo, lights everything. I flipped the key off and checked the kill switch but it was still one. After a few seconds of thinking I decided to check the fuses. I found the second 20 amp fuse was blown. I replaced it with the spare fuse and everything space spin and it ran fine. About 20 minutes later it did what I thought was the same thing, however this time the fuses were fine and the speedo and lights came on but the machine wouldn’t start. It would just crank and crank. I checked a few connections and pulled the front cover, just under the headlight pod, and checked some connections there and then it started again, and ran for the rest do the ride. However now neither my front or rear winches work, no clicks or anything. Any idea where to start or should I just remove all the plastic and start chasing wires?

Sportsman 550 seat replacement woes

A chipmunk must have gotten under my seat because my otherwise mellow dog destroyed my seat. Tore up the cover and ripped out huge chunks of foam. It’s unbelievable. It looks like a polaris replacement is in the neighborhood of 350. Didn’t see an exact match on ebay. Any suggestions for a replacement that’ll make me feel better about the dog?

Just aboard

New member just reporting aboard from Maine.
Found a little extra cash, and then took a professional whining course. It worked. My wife surrendered. Recently bought a gently used, adult owned 2012 Sportsman 500 HO after patiently covering Craig’s List for some time.

-2500 lb. winch
-2WD/AWD
-hand/thumb warmers
-front brush guard
-front bar light
-Rear storage box
-snow plow
-under 500 miles

I’m not a trail rider—-not saying I won’t, but it’s not why I bought it. I bought it for hunting and ice fishing. I’ll be making a smitty sled over the summer to tow behind along.
I’m happy with it.
