Thought I was gonna die!

Some bad guys stole around $1400 from my shop yesterday afternoon. This is how they did it. Bad guy #1 stays on the cell phone while asking me questions on his mother’s behalf. He is really on the phone with bad guy #2 who steals while I’m distracted. Bad guy #2 was here last week two times doing the same crazy thing but did not succeed. He was bad guy #1 the first two times. Really folks ….I thought it was failed armed robbery attempt. I would have ran him off last week for acting crazy but I was afraid of being called a while racist.

Help please

Hi guys Im new to this group but I am a member of other forums and always get great advice from them. I hope to have the same luck here as well.

Let me start with I have a 08 700 grizzly. I got it from a guy who had replaced the top end but still needed some electrical finished up. I have finished all that and the bike now runs.

I have 2 questions

1st- on my throttle body I have 2 hoses 1 goes to the motor right behind the input from water pump but the other one I can not find a mounting location for it.

2nd- bike revs up but will not move in 2wd. I put it in 4wd and it moves slowly. What can cause this. THe rear drive shaft turns as the bike moves but only in 4wd. please help

home made pasture/grass drag

one of my many jobs is at a +50 horse equestrian center. my good friends own it and don’t have ton of "farm" experience so I’ve been helping them as much as possible (the lady rides here too so it gets us both together a bit more).

I was told we needed something to drag the pastures with, it had to be low budget and easy to use.

old gate/chainlink fence from the scrap pile
few old tires
$50 worth of hardware/chain and… voila!

I threw some cinder blocks/dump truck tires on the chain link as added weight and now this thing does great at spreading the piles of "fertilizer" and the bolted tires tear the grass up just enough to promote a little growth and not destroy it. when im dragging it to the area being done I "fold" it up. what ya think?

New project, 350 ES, converting to footshift

So my neighbor has ridden with us a couple of times lately, and said that if I could find him a cheap bike he’d be interested in buying one.

This was in my best interest as well as on the last ride he almost sank one of my rigs, and later rolled it over. He’s one or those "hard on equipment" types.

So yesterday I see a 350 Rancher close by with a parts bike for $600. I ask the seller the usual title/ ES or FM/ etc questions and send the link to my neighbor.

He comes home with these two, a 2000 ES 4wd, and a 2002 ES 4wd….for $300. The complete rig would actually turn over and fire off with starter fluid.

Sooo, these are both ES bikes, and he didn’t want an ES because they suck, but at that price I told him I could convert it to a footshift (engine needs to be gone through anyhow).

Plan is to pull motor, take it down all the way and clean it out, replace timing chain and gaskets, check clutches, and redo the top end. While I have it all apart I want to convert it to footshift.

Is it as simple as replacing the gearshift spindle and adding a shifter, and pulling the reduction gears out of the front under the shift motor?

http://www.powersportsdiscount.com/o…gearshift-fork

Does the speedometer and gear display still work ok? (his is broken, but if they’ll work with it as a footshift he’ll probably replace it)

Needs brake work, front bearings, but for the price I think he did well. Spare bike has complete motor and both diffs.

Check out the sweet ignition switch. Before anyone freaks out, both bikes actually had titles.

2002 Polaris Trail Boss 325 making weird noises

I recently got a used 2002 Polaris Trail Boss 325 and have loved riding it. However, every time I go down a hill (yes I do go front down in forward gear)
without applying the gas, I hear a weird low screeching sound (like fingernails on a chalkboard, but lower). I am worried that it is affecting the machine, but I am not sure. Can anyone help me?

2013 accessory plug question

Hello I just purchased a 2013 Rancher ES and I’m looking to install a winch. I know the Honda winch kit plugs into the accessory plug looking at the instructions buy the inner fender well area. I know the newer 2014+ have a plug near the radiator. I didn’t get a chance to look at it. This week I will look closer at the plug on the 2013, but I read that nothing was plug into it either. But does anybody know if the 2014 plug is the same style connection? I’m guessing not. But it looks like I can put the 12 volt accessory plug which comes with a plug that I can probably lop off the end and hard wire the winch switch to that plug. But the kit is about 40 dollars and the 2014 pigtail is around 10 dollars. I’m just trying to make it look clean and I hate splicing into the factory harness.

I should mention that I’m looking to piece my own kit together. 500 dollars is crazy for the honda winch kit, when you can buy the stuff separately for half that or less, it just doesn’t have the plug and play stuff.

Thanks,
Bartz

Hanging rev and valve problem

I was out riding my trx450 a couple weeks ago and it ran fine. The following week I had a hard time getting it to start, then every time I let go of the throttle it acted like the throttle cable was sticking. So I took a look at that but it wasn’t the problem then I looked at the slide in the carb and its not sticking either. I had to reshim my intake valves a couple weeks ago because they tightened up, so I went ahead and checked the clearances and found out they tightened again, I’m going to replace the valves next week. Is it the valves causing the hanging rev, what else would cause this?

Shake at High Speeds

Where I live I do a lot of road riding.

When I get to over 50mph by front end starts to shake pretty bad where it’s actually gets a little freaky if I go any faster.

The front end has brand new bushings.
The tires are towed out a smidge as well.

My buddy has an old 04 sports 500 and he has balancing weights on his wheels. I don’t have any so I’m thinking my wheel just aren’t balanced?

Would balancing fix this?
Would any auto shop be able to balance the wheels or is that something that is specialized?
