So I recently bought a 2016 Can-Am Outlander 850 Max XT. Loving it except for the ride height. I have a Polaris Sportsman 400 and a Suzuki King Quad that I’ve never had any clearance issues with but a recent ride in a rocky area shows that my Outlander does. I’ve already snapped the front skid plate bolts off because of a bottom out. My friend was riding my King Quad and didn’t have any issues?
Is there any adjustments that can be done to the suspension to reduce this clearance issue? Or do I need taller tires to lift it up?
Just wondering what everyone suggests for upgrades to a base machine? I’ve already added the radiator splash guards, moose hand guards, and a home made plastic skid. What should be my next upgrade? Clutch kit? Exhaust? Do I need a tuner if I buy a slip in exhaust? What’s the best all around performance tire? I’d like something a tad more aggressive but not full blown tractor treads?
I’m returning to a Sportsman after 6yrs w a Grizzly 700. I wanted a 1000, test drove it at the dealer, and it really is insane. To a point where I just ordered an 850 instead – I’m a pretty experienced rider and know how to handle a machine. Most of my riding is in WV.
It’s not that I can’t handle the power, just thinking ab those slippery situations we get in, when you might accidentally blip the throttle and turn this 1000 upside down.
What do you guys think? Anyone regret getting the 1000 over an 850?

I have some extra oil drain and diff drain plug washers I bought the day after I got my grizz. Decided to go with gold plugs at my first service and got the spare washers for those separately. Anyone need/want the washers for the OEM plugs? I will check to see how many I have.
I took off my thermostat cover off the other day and caused this to happen and don’t know why.I went for a ride and two miles into the ride I noticed my fan coming on too often then the light came on.I shut it off right away and let the fan cool it down and I got home with only two slashes on the dash.Anyway I got home and touched the radiator and it was cold and my anti freeze was full.I opened the radiator cap slow and left it on and some strage sounds going on and the fluid disappeared and radiator got warm.Obviously it wasn’t circulating and now it’s fine but what would cause this.I only took off the thermostat cover. Was there air trapped in it preventing it to circulate?
