400ex power increase questions

Hi guys, as I’m sure some of you know ive got a (basically) stock ’01 400ex . I’ve been starting to ride some track and have found myself wanting a tad more power. I want to keep it relatively stock for resale purposes (no big bore) my question is, what kind of power increase could i get from an aftermarket pipe? Slip on, or full aftermarket? Will this on its own give good power or will it need a rejet? And again, what kind of power will it produce over stock? Any anecdotal advice or opinions from some of you more experienced folks would appreciated. Cheers!

Bendix replacement

Hi all,

My Bendix had been rattling for years. Never really noticed it, just got used to it. Until my friend noticed it once while ride. Now it seems the Bendix needs to be replace.

When I took it out I can see why it was rattling. The location where it sits has worn out. I believe a rubber "thing" or something should be where the Bendix sits on the motor side. Not the side the cover goes over. Putting the new Bendix in will probably be ok but it will still rattle.

I cannot find a part number for this item.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Drum Brake Issues

I hope someone can help me out here , my grandson has a grizzly 125 , and it has drum brakes front and rear and im hoping someone has come up with a way to make them work . They work great until he gets in the mud or water and then they barely work at all . As far as i know his dad has changed all the cables and the brakes , and seals on the drums look good . Any ideas to try ? Thanks .

1999 500 4×4 Problems!

Hey everyone, just bought a MINT 1999 Sportsman 500, got it for $2,100 with 1,550 miles on it. Got about $1k worth of extras with it too. This machine was meticulously maintained. Rode it today, and for the life of me, can’t get it over 30 MPH. Considering my 5 speed AC 400 does 55 no problem, what could be wrong? Has a brand new belt. Also, what is the "Normal" fuel consumptiom for these?Attachment 45394

This plug is gonna become obsolete!

If someone can’t help me out with it. Just gonna kill it with fire. Literally have taken my entire quad apart and cannot find a spot for this plug. Me and my wife looked for about an hour last night and have no clue.

I have a 2002 Polaris Scrambler 90
Quad was givin to me broken and I believe I have everything put back together except this one plug
It is coming from the wiring that connects to the push button starter deal on the handle bars.
By all means I am a one wire kind of guy so please if y’all have an answer dumb it way down for me
Thank you in advance

Water

Pretend a slip on exhaust fell off while you were submerged in about seat level water on a XMR 1000. Leaving now only a straight pipe. Now pretend while you were in the water you were playing around in reverse and drive while WOT and then rapidly letting off the throttle.

With the scenario above would there be any chance of a lot of water getting into the CVT causing belt slipping? I will add that no water was in the clean or dirty drain lines.

Thoughts?

Front tire size on Renegade

I have a 13 Renegade 1000Xxc that I’m about to order new wheels and tires for. The standard set-up I’m looking at has 14" MSA M12 wheels, and 28" Mega Mayhem tires. The rears are 11" wide, and the fronts are 9" wide. I’m really thinking that I’d like the 11" tires front and rear….. but still undecided whether I’m going to like the way it handles-turns with 11’s on the front. I ride mainly technical sand trails at high speeds, and avoid deep mud holes if possible. I know the 11’s are going to put extra load on the front drive line, although I rarely ever ride in 4wd. Looking for advice-thoughts from those with experience on this. Thanks in advance for any advice!
