2011 sportsman 500 HO questions.

Bought a 2011 sportsman 500 HO for my son.I noticed a few things that dont look right to me.I see a small hose about 1/8 diam coming from bottom of carb and has a black diaphram in line.what is it and where should the other end go?
also noticed a heavy guage cable coming off the left side of engine with an eyelet.it goes to a ground bolt on frame which is also the ground for the battery.the eyelet screw is not tight and will not move.it is a #3 robinson.Thank you in advance.

Brake Pressure

I was bored tonight and decided to check out my brakes, cause, why not.

I lifted my front end off the ground and spun the tire and I could very easily here the pads rubbing on the rotors. All 4 tires…

The cylinders move back and forth very easily and don’t seem to be binding. Maybe I’m just used to my Doo sled where the calipers have a little play in them when they aren’t pressed but this seems too tight.

Is there a way to adjust the pressure? I’m pretty sure the answer is "no" but I want to make sure because they just seem wayyyy to tight. I do brakes on cars all the time and they don’t even seem this tight…

Sportsman 570 efi Battery Submerged in water

Hello all, i was wondering if it is safe to take my 570 out for some mudding and water stuff knowing that the battery is going to be submerged. I has no cover and no plastic protecting the terminals. Just the leads screwed into the terminals. Is it ok for me to submerge my battery and terminals under water (like in a mud or water hole 1-2 feet deep) without my machine stalling/shorting out?

I appreciate all who help/answer Thanks! ~Jim

From ATV to RZR back to ATV.

Alright guys i’m back. I just sold my RZR 900XP that i have been riding the past 2 years. I had some circumstances come up and i felt it was best to sell the RZR and go back to a ATV. Here is my question I know i want at least a 850. I wouldn’t be happy with anything less power wise after having the 900 RZR. I live in Colorado so ill be doing a ton of mountain riding where i’ll hit snow and mud. Being in my late 20s I like to sport around and play in the sand where lots of power is a must especially if you want to have some fun. I feel like the scrambler would fit me best but i do not want to pay full sticker for one and that’s what most dealers charge for them in Denver. There is only one used near me right now and he wants way to much for it. My only option left would be to get a sportsman 850 value line that i can get for 7,600. From what i read people say the sportsman is almost the same thing as the scrambler is this true? I sat on both and the scrambler feels a little more aggressive when sitting on it. I just cant make up my mind if i should drop another 2 grand on a scrambler 850 base model or go with the sportsman 850 base model. Is the scrambler really worth 2,000 more? Whats the differences aside from styling and seat feel? I looked up specs and they even have the same suspension travel as the sportsman. If you have ridden both if you could chime in that would be awesome. Thanks.

84 atc 200x and 81/85 atc 110 projects

So years ago I bought an 81 atc 110 for $50 from a friend. Never ran, the motor was corroded and rusted head was cracked it was seized up, basically it was completely shot so it sat in the shed for years. Recently I started looking around for a motor to put on and and came across an 84 200x it started and ran so I picked it up for $400. It will need a lot of work to get it in perfect shape but it will be a good summer project. Will have to post pictures later can’t do it from my phone
