i took both of my 2014 sportsman 570 touring out over the weekend. we went through some mud holes a few times and then they started overheating. I washed out both radiators the best I could with jugs and bottles of water. one of the 570’s did pretty good after that but the other one kept having the temp symbol coming on and going into a limp mode. are these models prone to overheating or is there a better fix for this? just curious if anyone else is having any issues. thanks!!

1986 honda trx 200sx issue
Hi, I gave my daughter Honda TRX 20SX ( I want it back) but it has an issue. It is only used once or twice a year because when driven at high speed after about 10 minutes it cuts out and shuts down. I used to bounce it around thinking something got into the carb. It would start after around 5 minutes. I went through the tank and hoses and it was clean as a whistle. Last year in northern MN were my wife’s dad grew up in the middle of nowhere they have lots of tails on the land so you putter around under 20mph. It ran all day with no issues. This made me think it is electrical/ignition that heats up while running full out. If not full throttle it never really gets hot. I then read something somewhere about the coil or some other ignition part that the windings breakdown. Any ideas here? Has anyone experienced this? Thanks
Conventional oil?
If, as I have learned and practice, I change oil and filter often, do I need to run synthetic oil at all?
If I’m not running the oil long enough to get dirty anyway, routinely changing it as a preventative measure, can I run conventional oil?

What if you ignore the break-in process?
Younger person I know just bought a 570, and posting videos of them ripping around, mudding, all that – it got me to thinking about how I treated mine for the first 25 hours or so, following the dealer’s recommendations for breaking it in correctly.
What are the dangers of not paying attention to the break-in period? Is this going to be less overall power, performance issues, or will there be longevity or early failure issues?
Thanks!
Hatfield McCoy Spring Ride
Here are a few pictures from our ride a week ago. We stayed at Ashland and rode out from there each day.
Engine seems noisy after switching to synthetic.
I have a 14 Rancher 4×4 with the DCT. I switched to Honda’s 10W-30 synthetic oil a few months ago. The engine seems more noisy since the switch. I only have about 135 miles and 40 hrs on it.
I had a similar thing happen years ago when I switched to Mobil 1 in my truck.
Has anyone experienced a more noisy engine after switching to a synthetic? Thanks.

2015 Honda Rancher Back fired through carb?
So I purchased a new 2015 Honda Rancher 420. Since then I have put around 30hrs on it. Have done the 20hr mantaince. It has the electronic fuel injection. The last few times out riding on occasion when I hit the throttle to take off it will backfire through the carb and almost shut off. Not sure what could be causing this. Anyone else having this problem or know what can be causing it?

Summer trip out west
Im planning another trip out west again. Last year i went to Breckenridge Colorado to Moab then to South Dakota. Im looking for information on the Paiute Trails. We are thinking of doing a back pack trip from town to town. Any feedback would be great.
shooting sound from battery case
I charged the battery on my dad’s 1994 Honda 300 and drove fro about an hour. After killing the engine I turned the key back on to check to see if the battery had enough power to crank.
When i hit the starter button a shot sound about as loud as a 22 rifle come from the under the seat and a small amount of smoke came from the battery case. Now with the key on their is no power.
I opened the battery case and the battery looks ok and I did not see any melted wires.
Any ideas on what happened?
Thanks.
