Does my tire pressure Vs Spring tension tuning strategy make sense?
First I plan to find the best inflation pressure for my tires by checking the contact patch. I’ll do this by riding from dirt onto pavement and looking at the dirt tracks on the pavement. I think there should be an even distribution of dirt across the contact patch and I expect this to occur at somewhere between 2psi and 5 psi. (This is with new 8 ply Kenda Bearclaw HTR tires.) I am hoping a fairly low pressure will work because this will provide better traction and a smoother ride. If the ATV is too hard to steer at the low pressure I will increase the pressure until it turns easily enough.
After I tune the tire pressure, I plan to adjust the springs to be as tight as possible for good cornering while still being loose enough for a comfortable ride over lumpy, bumpy, rocky trails. Is this a good way to tune tire pressure and spring tension?

I do some checking- fuses, swap relays, no fuel pump noise- it’s dead. Of corse this wrecks the weekend of riding I had planned.
When a really really nice guy drags me out of the woods and back to base (about 14 miles- thanks again Jimmy :th_smiliewavey:) the ATV starts fine with a direct spray in the air filter housing.
I’m real disappointed on a number of levels. It’s less than 3 years old with less than 750 miles on it. Oh yeah, it looks like $360.00 for the part.
Anyone run into this? Did you go for the full part or try to fit in just the actual pump? Does this have a fuel pump controller?- that I may have missed?

I have notice that all or most are not a fan of the DS-250, well neither is my son. I purchased this ATV from a dealer brand new in 2013 or 2014 as a beginner rider and now my son (15) wants it to go faster. Before i purchase clutch, exhaust, sprocket etc. i am looking to make this thing go faster immediately. i already removed the screw from the throttle .i keeping reading about the spacer in the carb, but no photo. If anyone has a pic in their file of the spacer and location would appreciate if they can post it. As you can tell not big on ATV/Motorcycle mechanics. ANY suggestions that you have to speed this things up immediately without ordering any parts will be greatly appreciated.
My 2 month old Bighorns are starting to show cracks like the one on the pic I posted, mostly on the rears.
I do desert trails and rocky river beds, should I be worried?
Is there a product I could use to fill those cracks and at least hold the inevitable leaking a bit longer?

So yesterday I had some new tires put on the quad, and had tireballs installed (6psi front, 7psi rear, since they are a bit softer than a regularly inflated tire).
They ride perfectly, and no more flat tires!
I’ve had them in my Rhino for years.
And the best part was, when we took off the old tires,there was a big fat nail sticking into one of the rear tires. It wasn’t losing air, but eventually I’m sure it would have worked itself loose…
1994 Honda 4trax type2 200 cc. The plan was to rebuild the top end after running it out of oil (unfortunate oil leak) this winter. Quite a bit of smoke while it ran afterwards.
We have the cylinder out and there is a bit of light scratching on the bottom of the cylinder wall, and scuffing of the piston skirt. There seems to be no up and down play of the rod, but there is a bit of side to side play. While it was running, I didn’t really notice any obvious clunking.
-how much side play is acceptable? I was hoping to just have to rebuild the top end, but what is an indication for rod bearing replacement? And then, how much work is it to get the case split down to get to the crankshaft? Just trying to get a feel for what I’m getting myself into…and what generally needs to be redone while we’re in there.
I have a 2011 550 Eps with stock tires and rims I wondering if up sizing to Kenda K299 Bearclaws would pose any problem. I dont plan of doing any clutch work. and am looking for something to mount on stock rims.thinking of
