Hi. I am new to this sit and not sure exactly how it works. So bear with me. I have a 2006 sportsman 800 and the fuel pump sending unit is trashed. The dealer says I have to buy a new tank assy. $600. I was wondering if anybody has ever replaced their 2006 fuel tank for a newer 2009- 2013 tank so u can buy new fuel pumps from dealer. They seem to be close to being the same. Any thoughts?

Was working in the yard today and encountered the following symptoms:

1. Started hearing a squealing noise from the engine area and when I turned off the ignition the engine continued to run. I applied throttle when ignition was off and no throttle, turned ignition to on and throttle functioned normally. Engine finally shutdown after about 5 minutes on its own when ignition switch was off.
2. Touched the oil dipstick and it was exceptionally hot to the touch, suspect that the engine ran hot based on very hot oil dipstick, it was too hot to remove but after cooling oil level checked OK.
3. Noticed no power to ignition lights and tail and running lights. Checked battery and it is fully charged.
4. Not sure trans is in neutral as I am able to push the ATV with the trans level in any position with no resistance.
5. Starter button not functioning.
6. Engine cranks over using the rope starter but will not start.
7. ATV has fresh fuel and oil recently changed.

Suspect a loose wire? Engine overheating? or whatever, being a novice I appreciate all inputs on what I should check for.

Part number is 2878046.
The Polaris website says it does not fit a 570 but it bolts up in the same place.
If any one has one on their 570 or 450HO, could you please let me know.

About to replace worn factory pads. Is there a certain brand that would be better then oem or keep factory?

So over the past weekend I went to turn the Renegade off with the key as I always do and the key went to off but the bike kept running. I had to use the kill switch to turn it off. Now I pulled the key in/out, let it sit for 5 minutes out, etc etc no change. I let it sit for over 10 minutes then the bike didn’t want to start. Dash was still on as well as the brake light. Lights worked with key. I did disconnect the ignition switch but no change. I had to pull the negative terminal to get it to reset. I started it again and again it didn’t want to turn off. By that time I figured I would just take it home and look at it. I got it on the trailer- turned the key off and bike went off like nothing ever happened. It’s working now at home as well.

My Outlander 800 only shows the hours on our machine but we would like to know the actual miles. Is there a way to change that or it is something only a mechanic can reset/change?
