Alot of heat under my left leg

How many people with the 16 grizz is getting alot of heat under your left leg? I was riding in kentucky over the weekend and it might just be me but it got pretty warm on the exhaust side of my quad. It was about 90 degrees out and we were running pretty hard. Never saw a temp light come on but it felt really hot

My first adventure into 4 Wheelers!

Just picked up a Sportsman 800 with 700hrs on the clock last night, looks to be in reasonable shape for 10 years of use and the maintenance records are very impressive.

However it has a few kinks which I need opinions on:

First a pic!

Keeping in mind i’m a wheeler newb but I’m pretty mechanically sound.

I ripped it around my yard last night after getting it off the truck and I came inside and my clothes smelled strongly of gas fumes (assuming it’s running rich) Google tells me it could be an injector or two dumping fuel? The oil level looks fine but it also could be some shoddy wiring. I haven’t torn it apart yet but I wanted to ask if it’s a wheeler thing for them to run rich for the first bit of driving? I’ve driven it a total of 10 minutes. I’ve done the diagnostics and no codes came back.

The second thing is the idle has a mind of it’s own, sometimes you need a bit of throttle to start it (not recommended in the OWNERS MANUAL! lol) but if you make the tiniest of adjustments to the cable on the bars the idle either dies out or climbs, it’s really had to find a middle ground.

The gear selector is very finicky, I noticed when I followed the rod back to the pivot point there was a lot of play in the bolt that attached to the engine, does anyone know this part? can it be replaced?

I think that’s it for now! I love forums and I try and contribute when I can, I come from a Jeeping/Motorcycle background.

Best cargo/passenger seat for 2016 sportsman 850sp

Well I just purchased my first atv. I went with the sportsman 850sp. I took it out this weekend for its maiden voyage with my 8 yr old son as a passenger. I know it’s not a 2 up machine but there is plenty room on there for a 45 lb kid. We rode 25 miles in pretty rocky pocono mtn terrain. It handled and performed awesome. I’m happy with my decision to go with Polaris. Now I’m looking for rear cargo with integrated seat that I can throw on when I take one of my kids and take off when riding by myself. I think I settled on the Wes industry models however I’m stuck between the comfort model and the classic. Does anyone have experience with these two models and can comment on them. Example: passenger comfort, front rider interference or feeling cramped. I know the comfort is larger and would be better for my wife the one or two times a year she would ride with me but does the extra few inches interfere with my back or push me towards the front in an uncomfortable position. I will be mounting it lock and ride so it can be easy off and on. Not interested in tail light or heated grips. Any thoughts. Oh and it might sound silly but the only reason I didn’t get the touring is because it only comes in red. Couldn’t do it.

i miss can ams :(

Sooo i had a can am and switched to a 570 polaris. I feel the power is not enough. im thinking of getting an 850 or 1000 outty. problem is I do a lot of technical climbs – reason I went polaris. Im a bit worried the QE will throw me off on rock crawling

do you guys have any experience in this? would I notice a difference? or for this type of stuff maybe get a polaris 1000 for AWD.

I love the power of can am – esp when I used to mud. I dunno what to do guys :th_smiliepissed:

Never ending 686 project

So i have a grizzly that started life as a 2002 660 . I have owed this old girl for about a year and a half. Through that time she has started to show her age, and so my project began to surpass her former glory and show up the new model 700’s. I went right for power, making her a 686 with mudbuster cam, clutch kit, jet kit, bigger pilot jet,and opened up the exhaust. Added some gas shocks too. After the planets alighning and lots of trial and error adjusting she was running to perfection with crazy amounts of power. My friends who have 700’s are envious of her. Well everything was going great until this weekend when i went on a trip to maine. It was 90 degrees out and the old girl started overheating every 20 minutes. So i am embarking on a new venture which seems to be uncharted waters, and will be retrofitting a upgraded 700 grizzly 3 cell radiator and fan to her. Has anyone heard of anyone doing this before?

Spark plugs 2016 outty 1000.

I’m planning on changing out the spark plugs when I do my first 50 hour service as well as new engine oil and filter. The manual states ngk LMAR8D-J as a replacement plug. It also shows ngk DCPR8E as a replacement plug as well for the 570 and 650. I bought 2 of the ngk LMAR8D-J plugs and the diameter of the plugs are very skinny not like a standard plug….Can anyone confirm if theses are indeed the correct plugs for a 2016 outlander 1000. I’m gonna attach some pics for reference. Thanks.
