Battery was dead, so I charged it a little. Tried to start the bike with electric start and probably not enough juice…heard some fizzley type noises from the solenoid, then nothing. All I get now is a click and this is after leaving the battery on a trickle charger for 4 hours.
Going to replace the battery today anyway, but do you guys think its the starter solenoid that is gone? Like I said I hear a click when I press the starter button.
Anyway I can make sure that is the issue? oh and what is the oem part number for that solenoid just in case.
Trying to beat the bearing out and made a rookie mistake. Assuming if I left this unchecked it would foul up the new bearing. I can probably file the bearing side with a dremmel to get it smooth again but wanted to check here to see if I needed to replace the whole thing.

I have a 99 TRX300 that starts and runs good for about 30 seconds. After that it will idle fine but will pop out the exhaust and sputter if you give it throttle. If you press the start button, with it running, it runs perfect for 3-5 seconds then back to backfiring. I have replaced the CDI box and Coil, the coil was a little high on the primary and secondary when ohm checked. All other resistance checks were in spec to the manual and the coil input was just under 200V when DVA checked. Any thoughts?
Hey everyone, I’m thinking of buying a 1996 HONDA TRX 300FW and am looking for so advice on what a fair price is. This will be my first atv. The unit I’m looking at is a bit odd in that it was bought and then parked and never used. So even though its a ’96 it apparently has no usage. I have been told that it runs fine but I would obviously have to check the unit out myself. The only reason I’m considering this tav over just getting a new one is that so many people have told me that this is one of the best atv’s ever built and is better than what I can get today. As I said, I’m new to this and any help would be appreciated. The asking price for the unit I’m looking at is a roughly $3500. Thanks in advance.
i have a 2011 sportsman 550 touring (two seater) it has about 2000 miles on it, easy ones actually. it had that problem where i would put it into just about any gear and when i gave it throttle, it would really go to high in the rpm range before it would engage the clutch, so it would really jerk and take off. this was common with a couple years. so, i found a fix on here someone posted, i ordered some lighter primary weights, 48-52 lbs i believe, and i ordered a different spring. while i was at it, i replaced the drive belt with a gates. (my old belt looks pristine)
so my problem is it works great now! but since i did it, it is really hard to go into reverse, or low or high, or neutral. i mean really hard. it was defintelky not this hard before.
any thoughts on what is causing this? should i put the old belt back on? could there be a small difference in length causing this?
New to this so hoping I’m posting correctly.. was riding yesterday and engine shut down like it ran out of fuel.. occasionally would start but will only idle, once I give it throttle it dies. Backfires occasionally when trying to start back up. I noticed electronics started flickering and then lost all juice. I traced it to the small red wire coming from battery area, it was grounding out between the 20 amp breaker pack and the front of machine. Fixed the grounding issue hoping it would fix the problem… electronics back on but again it starts up and idles fine but shuts off after giving it fuel. Is it possible since it was grounding out after the breaker it burnt up something else?
