Valves

Ok I have a 2002 Grizzly 660, bored it over to a 686 because it threw a hole in the piston. Has whole new jug, sleeve and piston. Timing chain is new too. But it idles rough when it’s hot (few minutes of running) and then has trouble if not even wanting to start. Everything is new except the very top end ( valves, cam). Would the valves need adjusted and or replaced to solve this?

(Also off subject, would I need an aftermarket radiator to stop the over heating issue or will new valves solve this also)

2008 sportsman 500 fan not working

Last ride the wife got some a stick and other debris stuck in the fan. I cleaned it and tested the fan and it works. I reinstalled it and it does not turn on. I unplugged the temp sensor and the fan turns on as I am told it should. Is there a relay or circuit breaker somewhere? I have all the plastic off the front and can’t seem to find anything. Thanks.

Option for a start switch

I purchased the left hand control unit and it didn’t have push to start option. Should have read the details better. Anyway, instead of buying another pricey item, can I use a kill switch to activate the solenoid.
Can’t be any different then connecting to a wire that is hot after the key is turned on and use a monmantery button / kill switch.

Should work, right?

Trail boss 250 case oil?

Hello, I have a 1995 polaris trail boss 250 and just pulled the motor out after having burned up the piston and replacing it and having more problems. I was wondering is there supposed to be oil in the bottom of the case at all? There is some oil in mine I am wondering if the oiler isn’t working correctly or is there supposed to be a little bit the the bottom. Thank you to anyone who can help

Polaris 90cc break in help

Well I just finished a 1 1/2 year project for my nephew. It is a 2004 90cc polaris sportsman. It died awhile ago with no compression any longer. My brother in law took it into the dealer and they told him it wasn’t worth fixing. So of coarse it gets dropped off at my garage. So I put a new piston,cylinder,head,and rings. I coated all parts with oil before assembly, have piston arrow towards exhaust, and torqued head down to 14 foot lbs. It actually started right up to my surprise . I kept the rpms nice and low and road it around my yard nice and easy for about 8 min then it just died. Motor appeared to freeze up. I felt much resistance as I gingerly kicked it over just once. I new enough just to let it sit and cool down. After 30 min it started right up and sounded fine so I shut it off immediately and that’s where I am now before I screw it up any worse. Any thoughts? It was smoking good like a 2 stroke should and the oil I used was from auto parts store. I dont know where I could of went wrong?

My First CanAm

Hey Guys.

I’m Will – I live in Yorkshire, England. I’ve been riding ATVs for years but have just bought my first Can Am. I went with the Outlander XMR 1000 in Manta Green & Digital Camo. Picked it up two days ago and I love it.

A few mods lined up and I’m sure I’ll have loads of questions for you all. Looking forward to contributing as much as possible too.

Just picked up a 2013 Sportsman 500HO

Hey Guys,

New to the ATV game. Just picked up a 2013 Sportsman 500ho. It has 650km (original). 44 hours on the motor. Brand new 27" Mega Mayhem on 14" STI WHEELS.

So far, I have done the exhaust mod, with a 2" hole in the rear of the muffler and painted the muffler with high heat header paint. It is a very clean machine!

Love it so far!

2013 sportsman lead bushing between top pinion and diff case

Hello there,

Front diff of a sportsman 500 HO 2013;

I changed my hub bearings and the pinion bearing, put it all together for a ride … was still leaking, had some play on the shaft. I put it apart again and did a few search:

I’m I right thinking there is something between the top pinion and the differential case? Something that would make the top pinion sit tight on the case? Because as for now, if I put it back as is, there is enough play so the seal leak (even if it’s a new one).

Polaris want me to buy the whole thing … quite stupid for a ~3$ steel bushing…

Any idea?

96 forman 400 shutting off

I have a 96 forman 400 that began dying just like you would turn the key off. then it quit entirely upon looking at it found the only time it had spark was immediately after releasing starter button. no spark with pull rope or shorting of starter solenoid. Replaced cdi box. Now the first time no spark after that it will spark like normal still nothing on pull rope or shorting of solenoid. Now it really gets weird with running revving slowly gets to a rpm shuts off like hitting kill switch but if you lightly hit starter button comes right back to life. I have cleaned ground wires. completely confused!
