What’s useful, what’s a waste of money?

I’m going to get either an Outlander XT 650 or 850. Really want the 850, but think it may be overkill for my usage (snow plowing flat gravel driveway, firewood gathering, trail riding and some woodsy riding, meaning stumps and brush).

I’ve seen skid plates mentioned as very useful, but should I go for full or just the front? Or?

The dealer says to get heated hand/throttle grips. Would’ve been useful on my motorcycle, but my feeling is it may be just another thing to malfunction. Opinions?

Would it be worth it to upgrade any other system, such as shocks, differential locks, or just wait until the oem stuff malfunctions? Of course, if it doesn’t malfunction, so much the better.

Anything else?
Thanks for any advice.

Thoughts on using electric actuator to lift plow

So I finally burned up my warn winch plow at least it’s under warranty but I’ve been thinking about rigging up a electric actuator to lift the plow I think it will also lift fast then the winch what my concerns are is that it’s not going to want to float anymore for when I go over a snow bank although I do like the thought of being able to put down pressure so I can scarp better I’m just wondering what everyone’s thoughts and concerns are and if any one has done it with a actuator this is a flex plow

I hesitate – XMR or not

Hi everybody, my name is Luc and i’m from Quebec in Canada
First thing first, I was convinced to buy a XMR 570 until I speak to my seller and know that the DPS 570 have a 5 year warranty and the XMR 6 month.
I didn’t do a lot of millage a year but considering i’ll pay the bike several year I really hesitate.
I don’t really do mud, good tires and good ground clearance are essential for my kind of driving (play in snow/water and crazy off-roading)

There’s the prices here in Quebec/Canada (Canadian dollars)

Outlander XMR 570: 10994$
Terra 25 winch: 384$
Total: 11378$

Outlander DPS 570: 9994$
Front XT bumper: 164$
Terra 25 winch: 384$
Relocated bumper: 464$
Maxxis Zilla’s 27" 600$ (I prefer those to the 28" mudzillas of the XMR)
Installation or everything at the dealer 100-200$
Total: 11750$

The difference is about 400$ for a "custom" Outlander DPS
A B.E.S.S 36 month extra warranty for a XMR is about 1200$

Airs intakes are little higher on the XMR
Gearing transmission is different. I wait for the information at my dealer to know is the difference is significative.
What else I forget?

Thanks you !!!

New 2016 & 2017

Hello all.

For Christmas my wife and I got two Honda Recons from Santa – what a guy! Both are brand new. My wife has a red one and I have a green one. No HEAVY four wheeling for us as we both qualify for AARP – nuff said.

Glad to be here and I will have questions later about best places for parts etc.
