ran out of gas on 2009 Sportsman 500 HO Carb ATV and would not restart

Problem ran out of gas on 2009 Sportsman 500 HO CARB ATV and would not restart.

Actually , I figured it out but thought I would post it here since when I searched before I saw a similar solution , but not the same:

To restart, took off air cleaner, sprayed carb cleaner down intake snorkel while controlling start key while someone else held throttle slightly open. Kept spraying puffs to keep engine running at slightly open throttle. Started on choke and got engine to run for a while this way. Took choke off and did again – added puffs to keep it running and eventually it was running itself. Kept throttle open a little to run at a medium-high RPM (did not look at RPMs) to make sure fuel was priming. To help keep carb cleaner in the snorkel, elevated the back tires on blocks so would run towards carb as sprayed.

Apparently fuel pump lost prime. Prior to doing this cranked many times to no avail. I did get a few chugs when I had on choke. I was afraid I was flooding, but was not getting fuel

Epi mud clutch kit ?

Just got my new clutch kit. If anyone can help would be appreciated since the back of the sportsman 570 is built very strong I went ahead and put cobra axles in the rear but with the divorced front transfer case I’m trying to find an axle that is much stronger than stock but will still break before the diff breaks I am running 28 inch edl any suggestions on wat front axles to go with. Also just added the front wheel spacers much easier to clean weeds an debris off axles and brake caliper now that’s one of the pluses so far.

buying a beat up 2012 outlander XMR 800

I’m going to look at a cheaply priced XMR this weekend I need to know what to look out for as far as issues with these bikes. The quad appears to be fairly heavily mudded. It has around 350 hours on it, aftermarket exhaust and turner axles all around. Ive heard quite a few problems with XMR quads in these forums and I’m just hoping to get some sort of checklist for commonly broken parts and what I need to really look at.

2002 Kodiak air filter

As posted elsewhere, I have bought a Kodiak, but regard the air filter, does the inner frame and filter clip or screw into the airbox? On mine the inner frame has broken away from the end plate and that plate looks like it is glued to the airbox, the inner frame and filter just push onto the flange, which doesn’t look correct or satisfactory. If I get some more posts up I can post a photo of what I talk about.

Back in the Honda Club

Some of you may remember that I had an 84 TRX200 back in the day. Well today I bought it back. Four years later I think it is The man I sold it to asks if I would like to buy it back and I did. It is pretty well exactly as I sold it, he only used it to push snow in the winter time.

Well the only thing different about it is the rattle in First gear High Range, He said it just started doing it this year, put it in first and it’ll go then it’ll jump and shimmy and rattle fiddling with the range selector makes it quit so How big an issue is it once inside the panel? I’ve got two other motors one in various pieces and one mostly complete that I can rob parts from. What do the HondaHeads think is the most probable cause?

2008 Max XT 650 main wiring harness issue

I have a 2008 650 Max XT with only 600 miles on it. I just discovered today that several of my wires right under the fuse block are melted together. I put in new headlights and my fuse popped, then I replaced the fuse and they would not come back on. Started looking around and found the melted wires. Now with the key on the headlights are not working, winch is not, 12 volt outlet is dead and worst of all, my fan will not come up once hot.
Has anyone else had this issue? Thinking I might need to get another used harness.
