Hey guys. I’m pulling my hair out with this issue. I have a 2005 DS650X and neither my mechanic nor can I get it started. It ran perfect last year and this year it just won’t start. Here are the facts and what we’ve done to try and solve the issue:
1) Nice blue spark firing on every stroke
2) 150 compression
3) Cleaned carb thoroughly and adjusted accurately
4) New fuel
5) Timing has been reset and is right on
6) Key way pin has been checked and is in perfect condition
7) Used gas spray bottle to the carb and still isn’t firing
8) Has the odd backfire while cranking over
9) Gap between the trigger coil and guide piece is accurate
My machine is completely stock. Any recommendations?
I’m looking to put a much bigger oil cooler and fan in my 600 Grizzly, as the factory one just seems to be way to small and am not doing that whole relocation to the front rack setup, as I don’t go heavily into deep mud and use my quad for alot of different things and need the front rack space. I have a few questions I am looking to try to find answers on. Has anyone ever done this and have pictures and info on what they are using and how the mounted it? And which line is the intake and which line is the return on the factory cooler (standing in front looking at the quad)? The attached link is one I found on amazon and if it will fit in the space I would like to use it. I’m waiting for a response on what the dimensions are as they aren’t correct on the description. https://www.amazon.com/Derale-15800-…s=Derale+15800
Hello, I have a 2000 sportsman 500, and one day i pull it into my garage, put it in neutral, and this terrible noise started coming from the bottom of my engine. It sounds like a grinding spinning motion, It will change from loud to quiet, depending on if i put the choke on, and if i give it gas. the engine itself idles and runs fine, but that noise cannot be good. Don’t know if it is an oil pump or what? If i had to pin-point a specific location, it would be right at the base of the engine where the hoses that run from the oil pump enter the engine, but i don’t know if that is where it is coming from. Thanks
Hello, I have a 2000 polaris sportsman 500. The quad recently had the winch redone and when i redid it I took out the solenoid and just ran it directly from the battery, to a switch, then to the winch. Now I go to start the quad using jumper cables (since my battery is bad) and it fires right up but as soon as i take the jumper cables off of the battery the quad boggs down and shuts off. Just put in a bran new rectifier and when i hook the battery up to a meter it is charging up to 14 volts. Could it be a stator, or is it supposed to do that? Also if this helps, for the longest time, if my battery was completely dead, the quad would not pull start, but if i hooked up even a tiny bit of juice, it would pull start immediately. Thanks
Hey guys, I’ve got an 02 Sportsman 700 with a spun bearing. So I’m trying to figure out my options here. I can get bottom end rebuild kit with the crank/pistons/gaskets/seals for about $900, but its with a re-manufactured crank. Or I can get a new crank from HotRods for $650, and piece everything else together for somewhere around the same price I would imagine.
I guess my big question is, and I’ve been really searching around for more information, can I rebuild the engine, with the 700 case and head, with an 800 crank/balance shaft/pistons? 800 parts are cheaper and easier to get, and I need to know if and what models/part numbers will fit into a 700 engine case. I know the bore is the same but that’s about it.
To sum up my questions again:
Will a re-manufactured 700 crank hold up to a new one?
Can a 700 be rebuilt with an 800 bottom end(Crank/pistons)?
If anyone can offer any kind of help or advice, I’d really really appreciate it. I’m pretty new to all this and am trying my best to learn fast. Thanks!
Hi. I was changing oil on my 2006 500 x2 and noticed the wet around where the axles go into the front diff. I havn’t checked the fluid yet as i ran out of time. Obvious question —- is this a big time fix? it may even be leaking where the drive shaft hooks on. I will get a closer look when i get it up in the air in the next day or two. It has 7033km’s on it, but most of them are in turf mode. Any advice would be appreciated.
Wondering if any of you have ever encountered this noise in the secondary or can narrow it down to what it might be.. is it a bearing? or is it belt misalignment..
the video you cant hear it as pronounced as in person but you can get the jist of it.
