might be on to something here.

been reading a lot about the heat issues on the xmr. i pulled the inner wheel fenders to look around mostly to see about the air box issue and i still can’t see or feel a hole in it. what do i have to pull off to be able to see if there is a hole in it?

I’ve been thinking about adding a second radiator and fan on a switch close to where it goes on the non xmr outlanders. has anyone done this? thinking of getting a radiator off a honda or something and trying to see if i can’t get the motor itself cooler so its not as hot riding and idling therefore not getting the hot plastics and melting issues.

Hey outlaws….

Hey outlaws,i am very sorry I have not been around much lately here ?, but I’ve had my hands very full these past few weeks after getting back from my florida vacation. I don’t know if everyone even was told or remembers ?, but I was in the process of rebuilding my camper roof before I went on vacation ?. turns out, I had to not only rebuild the roof ?, BUT THE WHOLE FRONT END IN THE INSIDE WAS TRASHED FROM WATER DAMAGE !. soooo..this was a very big project for me to take on, AND VERY COSTLY MIND YOU !..LOL. that set me back about $ 1,000.00 bucks. anyway..i finally got it all done, and in the following pic’s, you will see what I went through to get my 22 ft camper back to great shape. And just when you thought it was safe to get back into the water ??..lmfaoooo, now I had to rebuild my little old shed I have owned sense 1985 !. my dad bought it for me back when I got married back in the day, I was 21 years old I think ?..lol. anyway, I had to re-skin it, as the outside of it was falling apart from age. went to lowes, and purchased 7 sheets of smart siding, then 2 gallons of paint, and 8 cedar boards for trim, and new boards for a ramp. roughly about 550 hundred bucks worth of stuff to rebuild my great little old shed. pic’s will follow in this thread as she looks now. Now comes the last project I had to take on !!. one great looking 16×20 metal carport I installed and put together myself in my back yard to cover my new Yamaha waverunner jet ski, and my 14 ft weldlbuilt flat bottom boat that needed a roof over them !..lol. let me tell ya outlaws..these projects kept me very busy, and soooooooo wore out…lol. i’m not in my 20’s anymore, and I felt every hour of this work..lol. anyway, enjoy the pic’s. I am currently tearing down a 2004 Honda trx450fe for my bud for a man that owns it, top end is off, and we our giving a parts list to him soon, so he’ll know if he wants to fix it ?, or trade it in ?. I do not have any pic’s of this ?, but I can post some if anyone wants to see the process ?. enjoy my project pic’s I do have done !. p.s. I WILL BE AROUND MORE NOW THAT I HAVE SPARE TIME AGAIN !..LOL. pic’s were taken on smart phone, not sure why they are sideways ??..grrrrr !..lol.

Outlander 400 front tire width possibility?

I have a 2012 Outlander 400. I have stock 25x8x12 and 25x11x12 tires now. I want to go to 26 inch tires. Does anyone know if I can go to a 26x9x12 comfortably on the front without any problems with tie rods proximity? It would be good to know before ordering. Right now thinking about getting ANCLA tires. Any help would be appreciated.

Attention – Password and Security Update

Hello all,

Over the next few days we will be implementing some changes to our forum password strength and password expiration policies. To make sure you continue having the best experience possible on the community, we regularly monitor the site and the Internet to keep everyone’s account information safe. We’ve recently become aware of a potential risk to some accounts coming from outside of this community. Just to be safe, we are implementing the following changes to improve security even further:

1) We are asking everyone to change their passwords (and will force a one time reset). Along with every user on the forum, new passwords will need to be more complex, and can’t be simple words (sorry, you can’t have "fluffy" as your password anymore!). Please use a password unique to this community. Reusing passwords can expose your account indirectly when other websites (Twitter, Linkedin, Badoo, etc) are compromised; and

2) Your passwords will expire on a 365 day basis. When you login on the 366th day, you will have to change it.

We’ll also be sending out an email to users to let them know about the changes, in upcoming weeks.

Thanks all,

Helena

Tire & Rim Options for Sportsman 500 HO

Hello,

I’m looking to replace the factory rubber on my ’13 Sportsman 500 H.O. The original Carlisle 489s are done…..

Machine is stock & is ridden in the mountains over rocky terrain & occasional encounters with mud so the tire style needs to be a good "all around" performer, something in the same league as a Bighorn.

I’m open to installing different rims at the same time in order to install larger tires but am not interested in lifting the machine & would prefer to keep it as narrow as possible. The need for re-clutching for the larger tires is understood.

Any recommendations on tire / rim combos that provide adequate suspension clearance on a stock machine & good all around performance for aggressive mountain riding?(as aggressive as a 500 H.O. can be….LOL)

Thanks in advance,

Glen
