’95 Polaris Sportsman 400

I ordered a new ignition switch for my sportsman and the color codes are a little different. The old one is a four wire with a black,red with white,solid red,& brown. The new one is black,red with black,solid red,& brown. would they hook up the same as the old ignition using the red and black in place of the red and white? and I just rebuilt the carb and there was one small line that was broke . it had a filter on it. not the main coming from the tank. is there any free downloadable repair vids or manuals? i picked up the machine for $400.00 and it has great compression,just needs some TLC. the guy told me the motor was just rebuilt last fall. I could use any help if possible as I am tight with funds just having neck fusion surgery. Thanks in advance.:thanks:

Fuel delivery issue

I have a 2006 Sportsman 500 2x.
It seems to want to run out of fuel and quit at lower rpm’s and a little at higher rpm’s. Do you think it is the fuel filter? If so do you have an after market replacement?
Do you think it is the fuel pump in the fuel tank? I don’t want to replace the whole fuel tank/pump for $750. Is there an after market pump or can you install an external pump somewhere inline. I know the fuel pressure is approx. 40 psi.

Thanks

Guess I’d better do the intro thing..

Motorcyclist all my life, ATV guy since 2002 when I bought my Rancher ES new. She has right around 8800 miles on the clock now. Gets used daily on my place here. It is the MOST reliable machine I have ever owned.

It’s taken me some pretty amazing places over the years..

Spent lots of time in North Central Idaho.. Pilot Knob here;

Done the Elk City Wagon road several times;

She goes sideways quite well, and has spent a lot of time close to redline… it gets used.

It’s taken me places that most folks wouldn’t think a 2wd machine would go..

She’s spent some time in the water..

Took some epic trips. Like the run up into the Buffalo Hump Wilderness area. Roughly a 90 mile day.

She’ll still do about 53 mph indicated… pinned. And she’s done that for long, long stretches of time on occasion.
I change the oil/filter probably more often than is needed, but it just goes to show ya, a decently maintained Honda will go a long, long ways.

U joints on 2011 500 HO

Guys, going to be changing my brothers ujoints on his 2011 500 HO on his front prop shaft. Does anyone know an aftermarket joint with grease fitting? Would NAPA 338 work? Have seen that somewhere on the forum. Also, don’t have a press, can it be done with a vice and sockets. Any input would be appreciated. Have changed balljoints and wheel bearings but never the universal joints.
Thank you,
