Hey new to the forum. I’ve got an issue with my 2005 sportsman 500. It’s been getting hot for awhile. It all started when my fan died. I replaced it with a. All balls fan because it was half the price. Couple months later the bike would start flashing hot. And then the fan kicks in. It’s around 30-40 secs after the hot light the fan comes on. I’ve replaced the ecm, temp sensor, thermostat, coolent seems to flowing. Pulled the cover of the waterpump, fins on pump looked fine. Rad has been cleaned very good to make sure fins arnt full of dirt. Ran other wires to eliminate any issues in harness. Tried pretty much everything. I don’t believe it’s the headgasket or it would push the coolent out of the reservoir. Anyone have any suggestions?
Also anyone know where to splice into to run the fan direct with a switch? I disconnected fan and made a connector with a switch, but didn’t realize the hot light will be on all the time with the fan disconcerted.
I’ve been thinking about getting a spare CDI for my 87 350 and they are quite $$$$… but 300’s are are half or third of the price (89 TRX 300’s). If you were to re-pin the connector for the 350 to the 300 pinout. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work? Has anyone tried this , or grabbed a generic CDI and rewired it into their 350 without any issues?
Other than ignition timing at higher RPM’s, it SHOULD work….
I’m brand new to this cite and had a question about a new atv. So I just bought a brand new 2016 Sportsman 570 and was just wondering if it is normal for it to smoke the first few times I ride it. It still has 0 miles on it and when I was just riding it around my yard once it started to smoke a bit or should I bring it into the dealer?

My 99 (Corrected) TRX 300 FW will spit and stutter when under load. Especially when climbing a mild incline (I refuse to take on any step hills with it running like this). The carb has been rebuilt and installed a new coil. Neither of these made any difference. It will run fine on flat land, slow speed or no load, it get worse the hotter it gets. I am leaning toward the CDI? Anyone had this problem or heard of this?
Not sure if this is good or not but I’m in the process of wiring my light bar and their is a buzzing going on when the light is on and connected to the relay!
If I connect the light bar directly to the switch with no relay the buzzing noise from the light is greatly reduced but can still be heard if you are listening for it.
So will this buzzing cause anything? Any issue? Premature wear?
Also what is the buzzing? Resistance from the terminals or something greater?
I know their are a few electrical gurus out their that may lend their .02$
