“New” 2014 Sportsman 550 Browning LE

Local dealer has a 2014 he’s calling "new."

Craigslist posted as retail $9499, sale price of $8586. Emailed me back saying he "will also do 30 % off any accessories you want at the time of sale and there is factory financing as low as 3.9% and a full factory warranty."

I won’t need any accessories, will be paying cash, and the factory warranty is only 6 months(?).

I e-mailed back asking hours / miles.

It would be a great compliment to my recent purchase (2013 Browning 550 with 25 hours), but he’s going to have to come way, Way, WAAAAAY down in price. Heck, I can get new 570 out the door for under $7k. And used 550’s with EPS around $5,500.

I’m in no hurry to make the purchase. This would be for the wife, and her only requirements are: needs power steering, need to be as fast as my ATV 🙂

What would be a fair price for this ATV?

Made the move

I sold the Commander and bought a 2016 Wolverine E Spec Fox.
They are installing a 3500 lbs winch , half a windshield, it has a roof . Part of the deal is they keep the 26 in Bighorns and install A set of 27 in Maxis Bighorns. Hope to have it for this weekend !
It is green , was looking at your paint Trev , did you look at a Camo wrap . Move over Grizzly another Yammie coming into the stable !!

clicking sound at take off

I bought an 05 outlander 400 a month ago and have only put about 200 miles on it. I’m hearing a click sound, just one click, somewhere between when I push in the throttle and the machine starts to take off. It is barely audible, my wife on the back says she can’t even hear it. I believe it is when the secondary clutch engages, because there is a slight delay. Just one simple click, usually I hear it, sometimes I do not. If I ease on the throttle, it seems less likely to happen. Any idea what it could be. The U-joints seem to be fine and I greased them up.

Predator 90

I purchased my son a predator 90, wasn’t used much, still has chalk marks on the tires, it’s an orange 04. We got back into the sport recently, health issues on my end put a stop and forced us to get rid of our last machines for a few years. He’s 9, and we now are riding about every chance we get, I like the machine, his last bike was a Honda Trx 90, and I see posts all over but there are a lot of links, and sites that just don’t work. So my questions are probably the same old thing but any help or if there’s a member on here who can give me advise I would appreciate it. He’s ready for mods so I removed the cdi jumper, still not enough so..
Which cdi with Rev limiter deleted are most people using
I see older posts on nerf bars, anyone know which ones can be made to fit or do
Widening the machine? Is there a arms and axles out there? Anyone have experience with a diamond J custom setup? Not the route I want to go.. but if needed.. I will
Bumpers and grab bars, what is out there, I don’t see a lot
Oil injection delete, I see basic information on doing it, I’d like a block off kit, but don’t see one, and going the route and doing it yourself is fine, there’s just many people who do it a ton of ways, which one works best
We ride a local private track, so any help with mods, and what works even with some fabrication would be great, I see a lot of chassis parts for outlaws, even parts for the chassis that can cross over or be made to would work. I only have a few decent years left myself, so I’d like to get this thing closer to what he wants, and this winter if he wants, I’ll build a MX mini with him if he chooses.
Thanks any help or direction towards somebody on here who has done so basic mods would be greatly appreciated

How to adjust your clutch on a manual shift atv

Hey outlaws, seeing how there has been a few members having issues ( including me lately ! ) with clutches needing adjustments on our manual shift atvs ?, I thought I would post this up, and give ya’ll a lesson on how to adjust your clutch on a manual shift atv. sooo..lets start out with my ’03 trx450fm..shall we ?. I had a chance to take her out for a all day ride this past Saturday, the ride went very well, cept I noticed she was not shifting the best she should be ?. now..keep in mind, I never touched the motor on this atv when I rebuilt her ?!, the motor ran great back then, sooo..I just left the engine alone. fast forward to earlier today. while I had her In my shop fixing the carb with a carb rebuild kit, new tie rod ends, I was messing around with my adjustment on my clutch, now, I’ve adjusted many clutches in the past ?, but this one was not acting right to save my life !!. finally at one point, it would not even go into gear ?!. now that was very odd. sooo..I had only one option, and that was to pop the front cover off, and see what was going on ??. this meant..i had to unbolt the front differential, pull it forward, and hook the front drive shaft, oil lines, then all the bolts. I did drain the oil BEFORE I did this !. I got to the last bolt, and the front case cover just popped right out on it’s own ?..that right there was telling me, something was not right for sure !!!. once I got the cover off and out, right from the get-go, I see the metal triangle part that has the bolt through the case with the lock nut, was backed all the way off, and not on the adjusting bolt !!!!!!. yeah..that will cause problems for sure !..lol. soooo..i knew I had to screw the adjusting bolt back into the metal part, and did. sooooooooooo, keep this part in mind when and before you go touching your adjusting bolt on your manual shift clutch ?, ALWAYS loosen the lock nut, turn the center bolt clock-wise while your facing the front of your motor for all of you that have the newer style motors ?, and for all the old timers that have this set up on the right hand side ?, same set-up applies here, loosen the lock nut, turn the center bolt clock-wise until it seats ?, now go back counter-clockwise all the way, until it lightly seats ?, then turn it back clock-wise about 1/4 turn ?, and tighten down the lock nut while you hold the center bolt with a screw driver. that’s all there is too it. too test that you adjusted the correct way ?, and you did not get lost in the way I laid it all out here for you ?, do this : turn the key on, crank it up, take your foot, and raise the foot shifter up with your foot…AND HOLD IT THERE !!!. DON’T LET IT GO BACK DOWN !. if you adjusted it the right way ?, while your holding it up with your foot ?, and it’s running ?, the atv ahould not move very much at all ?..if any ?. not until you let the foot lever go back down, will it move with throttle. if it still tries to move while your holdind the lever up ?, then go back, loosen the lock nut, turn the center bolt clounter clockwise again, and then turn it back clockwise about 1/8 of a turn ?. then do the test all over again. keep in mind..adjustments will very, going by what condition your centrifugal clutch arms are in ?, and what shape your change clutch friction disk are in ?. these two parts are very important to the way your atv uses the motor to make your atv move.

Directional Signals

Looking for some help here. I’m thinking I would like to install directional turn signals on my 2004 Sportsman 500 HO. Purely for safety’s sake. In order to reach the trails from my place I need to ride a few miles on the surface streets and most of the drivers in this area are not as friendly to a quad as they are to other cars. I’d feel a lot safer with the turn signals but have no clue if this can be done and if so, how do I go about it, and where would I get them. I’m somewhat mechanically inclined and feel I could install them. Thanks for any help offered.

I know I could trailer the quad but being only a few miles from the trails I prefer to go that route rather than leave the trailer and truck for some scum to pilfer while I’m off riding the quad.

840 tune on stock clutches

I recently bought a 2013 outlander 840 with the bbk in it. The problem is it still has stick clutching. I can’t muster up the money for a complete new clutch but I can afford to buy a spring or whole kit if need be. My question would be where do I start. Which clutch spring is most needed to change. What does a stiffer/softer spring do. Not in any rush for answers as it will not be done for a while and not going in any rides soon but feedback is appreciated.
