Took a running 800 motor completely apart to upgrade some parts. During reassembly of bottom end I noticed the crankcase dowel pins did not line up right. I was able to take a dead blow hammer and smack the cases and they slide right together. Didn’t think it was a big deal so went ahead and pulled it apart and installed the new crank and rods and put it back together. All bolt holes lined up perfect but dowels a little off. Gave it a smack and it went together. Torqued all bolts to factory specs and went to rotate crankshaft. Crankshaft rotates by hand but I believe its not as smooth as it should be. Feels like its slightly on a bind. Looked over the cases real close and noticed wear the through shaft bearing housing slides into the cases in the rear of motor is not lined up like it should. I can not get the through shaft bearing house to go into cases in the rear. The housing slides right into the one on the front like it should. Looks like the rear is warped by about .030". Didn’t notice this when we took motor apart but it was tough getting cases to split at the time. Now I know why!! This motor was putting out a lot of power and torque, there was nothing stock about it plus it had some NOS on it. Just checking to see if anyone else has had this problem??? Looking for a good set of cases if anybody had them…
