Any one using RCV axles?

On my 1000 4, I’m running Super ATV axles, I’m also running 32" Roctanes.

Other than a few times I did something stupid (fly up a hill in 2WD, hit a jump and let off the gas) I really hadn’t broken any axles.

Learning to use the skinny pedal and a lot of finesse goes a long way. Well, this last weekend, I had a friend drive my buggy and he’s not use to the power and basically nailed it hard going up a hill that was a) almost vertical and b) covered in mud.

Needless to say, an axle broke.

Soooo, I’ve been waiting for one to break and I was going to order RCV axles. Though I’ve only ordered the two rear ones for now, I’m still kind of torn. Obviously, you’re going to break the weak link, if the axles are stronger, where does that leave me? A diff breaking next?

I haven’t really heard of many cases of rear diffs breaking so I’m taking a chance for the rear. I hadn’t ordered a set of front axles because IMO, the odds of breaking a front diff are much greater (I have a ’14 with metal sprague)

Any one want to share their thoughts about this? Anyone using RCV axles? BTW, I bought the pro series, they’re only 650 a piece as opposed to their 950 per axle model. (you can’t use arched control arms with the 950 axles)

I did also order a Dirty Dawg clutch kit… though it’s not been a problem, I’m sure that will help on the take-offs and belts because of the 32’s.

Thanks,

Mark
