Antenna selection

I was browsing YouTube on antennas and came across this video which I wished to share. While it may be a bit beyond the scope of many of the readers on this forum, I found it particularly useful for explaining why different wavelength antennas function the way they do. And how many high quality antennas such as the Laird mobile antennas you sell have such large bandwidths. Meaning the large frequency range you can operate on the antenna without tuning.

I know you guys praise your 1/2 and 5/8 wavelength mobiles because of their Erp or gain, but I actually have experienced better TX/RX with the 1/4 waves, especially in canyons and around obstacles. The WB-1/4-W-HD that you sell is really hard to beat and to be serious, it’s this kind of quality that can mean the difference between life and death.

I highly recommend your radio and antenna systems to anyone looking for serious reliable communications.
