I’m in the market for a new 4wheeler currently and keep coming back to the Grizzly 700. It will be used primarily for hunting and some trail riding. I’ve looked at literally every make and model and simply can not pull the trigger on the yamaha because I have no experience with them for comparison reasons. So far ive narrowed the field down to the Honda Rubicon eps foot shift, Grizzly 700 eps, and Polaris 850sp. Both Honda and Yamaha have the reliability thing going for them. Polaris is going to be more maintenance obviously but it’s a tradeoff. Only mods I want would be basic things like wheels, tires, winch, bumpers, etc.
Honda first off. They have the least power, quite frankly years behind on technology but they are tough as nails. Last one I owned rode like crap and left me hurting after a full day of work. Plus I was trying to get a deer out of a creek once and the motor didn’t have enough power to bring me and the deer up the bank. Just bogged down and wouldn’t go anywhere.
Yamaha. Has a great reliable reputation. Has some mixed reviews on rideability and comfort for all day runs. Most intriguing of the three.
Polaris. Some reliability concerns. Known for having one of the best rides in the industry and also has the most HP out of the trio.
I’m coming off a Can Am XMR 1000 that quite frankly was a horrible choice for hunting. Before that was a Ranger 900, a Foreman 500 and Foreman 450. I want something reliable, plenty of power for 27" tires that doesn’t bog down under load, and that doesn’t kill me after 8hrs on the saddle. Speed isn’t an issue as I rarely see anything past 20mph. Terrain varies from hardpack, basic trails and a little mud.
What yall think?
