A voltage regulator question

Pirate here, I have a 2009 RZR 800

Voltage Regulator is mounted in front of the radiator.

There is a plug with three yellow wires, that comes from the stator.

Unplug that, start the engine, and measure the AC Voltage from Y1 to Y2, Y1 to Y3 and Y2 to Y3 at good RPM all read 42 to 43 Volts AC. (keep in mind with the Stator unplugged the tach doesn’t work)

So this tells me the stator is fine and doing its job. Reconnect the Stator plug to the Voltage Regulator plug.

Now disconnect the four wire plug. It has two red wires and two black wires. Reading the wiring diagram both red wires go to the same place and both black wires go to the same place. So that tells me I should be reading DC voltage going to the battery that should be in the neighborhood of 13 to 13.5 volts DC.

But reading the DV voltage from red to black, I’m getting 2 or 3 volts DC.

Do you agree this means the Voltage Regulator has failed?

My dealer doesn’t have one, Polarispartsdealer doesn’t have one, Cheap Cycle Parts doesn’t have one. All can get me one in 6-8 days…ummm…leaving for Fillmore Utah on the 19th.

But, FixMyToys has 10 on the shelf. Got a great deal buying two…so I have a spare. Shipping to me 2nd day UPS for $25.

This will be my third voltage regulator, kept the first one and get the same results testing them.

Volt meter on the dash is reading 11.5 Volts DC and got to 12V but no higher.

So that led me to the Voltage Regulator.

Anyone got experience that would say I’m right? The Voltage Regulator is failing????

Thanks much,

Pirate
