87 TRX350D – Bringing it back to life!

Hey everyone,

I posted a week or so ago about how I’d acquired an 87 TRX350D, and I’ve been gleaning as much info as I can from this forum about how to proceed with it, and make sure that I’m doing things correctly!

Thanks to the information here I’ve picked up fluids, oil filter, spark plug, carb kit, and the service manual, and also priced out the CDI and fuel pump from the local Honda dealership (pump in stock, CDI is available within a week if needed).

I’m hoping to tear into the bike either tonight or tomorrow morning, and get this thing underway!

I’ll be documenting as much as possible regarding the condition and process, and will be uploading the video to Youtube on my channel (TheLukePhone).

Thanks to a rather wordy and hard to read post from Shadetree 😉 I’ve got my troubleshooting for the CDI sorted out and I’m putting all of this info into a flow chart. 😀

As far as the rest of it goes…

– Oil
– Fuel
– Battery/electrical/spark
– Carb
– Timing

The aesthetic side will be the last thing I address; as the plastic is in really good shape on this, I’m considering just cleaning it up and **MAYBE** plastidip on it to keep it protected (which I can also use to change colors as I feel like it).

I’ll be uploading a ton of pics and videos once I get more into this, and hopefully some of this info will be of use to others on here (and beyond) as well. 🙂
