I came from a out lander max XT 400. I mostly do trail riding out in colorado. I had to use low any time I was 4 wheel crawling or steep inclines. There were many hills it wouldn’t climb in high Geer so I learned to stop at the bottom of every hill and shift to low before starting the climb. Now that I’m on this 850 I still shift to low when I’m doing the technical 4 wheel stuff at very low speed but it has plenty of power to make it up these steep hills at a speed I never thought it could do. I’ve heard several times that people are burning up their belts because they are not using low gear when they should. So I’m curious what you all think about when you should use low gear vs high. In particular, if your holding good speed as you approach a steep hill, would you stop and shift to low, or keep it in high.
