850 fuel consumption

So I lurked on this forum for quite a while beige I joined up after I bought my 850 this past weekend. I don’t understand where some people are getting their fuel mileage claims for the 850. I put on 155 miles with another 850, a 570, 500 and a 450. The biggest gas hog was the 450. I did all those miles on 6.4 gallons of 91 octane. We ride in the mountains with a lot of elevation change, but we are on very nice trails cruising between 30 and 40. The other guys on the 850, the 570 and the 500 got about the same mileage. Do bigger tires really dog the machines down or something? Obviously the harder riding will result in worse mileage. Just curious what the deal is.
