800 Rebuild Questions..

Howdy. I do not post much on here. But I now have some questions.

I am in the processes of rebuilding my 800 outlanders engine. Why?? It lost oil pressure so I tore it down to see why. Turns my timing chains were breaking links. They also were so stretched that the adjusters were all the way out and they still could not keep the chains tight. They chains ate the guides (literally!!).. There was pieces all over in the crank case. The reason for oil pressure loss was… In the crank case they have a screen that filters any big chunks out of the oil before going to the oil pump.. That screen was plugged almost tight!! Problem found… When I was in there I found that the front piston was slapping the cylinder and there was pitting on the cylinder wall. Time for a rebuild.

Now on to the questions. Instead of going with 11.5:1 comp piston which would be perfect for what I am doing. Would there be any benefit to going with a 12.5:1 or 13:1 then shimming the jug to bring the comp back down to where i need it? would this gain me any extra Power? The reason i ask is would I gain any cc from it? Or would I be right back to where I would be cc wise if I would have gone with the 11.5:1 piston?? My mind says it would be right back to the same.. Is that right?? It would be nice if it did gain some cc along with it..

I might have other questions as I go.

Thanks in advance for the help!
