My front end keeps engaging on my 400 explorer making it pull to the right or the left depending on which hub engages. Usually happens after I back up and then go forward again. If I back up and go forward again a couple times it will usually disengage and then I can drive it no problem until the next time it happens. I have it in 4×4 all the time and I have over ridden the reverse over ride so it is in 4×4 in reverse all the time also. I called the shop and the mechanic there says I can’t have it in 4×4 all the time because the electromagnets will magnetize the hub and then strange things will start to happen, like what I am experiencing. He also says that some of the parts for the hub and hilliard clutch on an ATV as old as mine are no longer available. Not sure what I should do. I took the whole thing apart and cleaned everything, then put it all back together with new oil. No change. The reason I had to over ride the reverse over ride is because I bought it without a head light or speedometer so the wiring was disconnected. Basically what I did was send power to the hubs all the time so they are engaged all the time. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks! Polat.
