can anyone help upon this rattle that I am now getting on my bike.
I have recently changed the uj’s on the rear drive shaft, replaced all brake pads ext and done the rear wheel bearings and also serviced the engine ect.
since this there now is a loud rattle which only appears when the bike is over running down a hill ect or if you jack the rear wheels up (only when there is no load from the engine, if your driving uphill putting load on the gearbox from the engine, it does not make the noise). It sounds like it is coming from behind the variable pulley where it goes into the top of the gear box. I have asked my brother if he noticed anything when he poured the fresh engine oil in and he said no, I have recently redrained the fresh oil out, to find no sign of anything in it, also put a bore scope up the drain hole and still could not find anything. today I removed the rear drive shaft again and the rattle stops, so I thought possible because there is no load on it, so I engaged the front wheels to make it drive them and still no rattle, ive checked over the new ujs and they are fine, so ive eliminated them, then as soon as I put the rear drive shaft back on it is making the rattle again.
Is there a damper plat inside the gearbox which could of broke up or causing the rattle, which is happening in coincidence with doing this work to it??
Many thanks
