3WD Outlander

First off, I’m relatively new to this board and this is my first post, so hello everyone! Unfortunately I am having to make my first post about a problem with my front diff (possibly?).

I have a 2016 Outlander L 570 that I bought in December 2015. I have only taken it out a few times and it has less than a hundred miles on it.

Last time I went out to ride the trails were in absolutely horrible shape with huge mud pits everywhere. They are one way trails so there really wasn’t any other alternative than to just try to get through it. I ended up breaking the front right axle at the hub side CV. I replaced it myself with a Rhino axle because I figured it was my fault and they wouldn’t have covered it under warranty anyway. Well today I took it out behind my house to ride for a minute and noticed that I only have 3 wheel drive. No matter what I did I could not get power to the left wheel (this is the opposite side of the axle I broke). I tried getting it in the mud and nothing from the left wheel. I tried climbing a large rock. The right tire climbed it just fine but when I tried to climb it with the left it did nothing.

I jacked up the front of the machine tonight and if I spin the right wheel the front driveshaft spins. If I spin the left wheel the driveshaft does not spin. I then tried to block the right wheel and spin the driveshaft by hand, and then vice versa. No matter what I do I cannot get the driveshaft to spin the right wheel. Granted, I don’t know the significance of these tests. I am not really that mechanically inclined.

Anyone have any suggestions? Does it sound like a broken front differential or something else? I’m a little bummed that I’m having problems already. Worse, I’m afraid if there is something wrong with the diff then they will not cover it under warranty because I broke the right side axle and replaced it with an aftermarket one. 🙁
