I have a 2014 Sportsman 850 XP PS HO. Just about every time me and my friends went out riding I would end up in what I call "Limp In Mode" where the temp light would light and blink and the RPMs would be limited. Let it cool and I could go home and clean the radiator out and everything would be good. Stuff like mud and little grass seed and junk. I thought about a relocate kit but really didn’t want that up on top. Then I came up with a idea that actually works. I made a shield out of some aluminum siding(just thin aluminum I had that was on a roll). The shields go on either side of the radiator to the front of the bike in the inside of the fender well. Two small sheet metal screws secure the shield on each side to the fan shroud and then it butts up to the inside of the front grill. This keeps the mud from slinging from the front tires on to the radiator when going through a mud hole. On the front of the bike (in front of the radiator) I cut a piece of window screen to fit the opening and secured it with one of those plastic push pins that is used to hold the fenders together. I have been out riding in some pretty rough areas, one was a trip to Busco, and have yet to hit overheat or "Limp In Mode" Nor have I had to clean the radiator. Just thought I would put this up here if someone else is having the same problem. I will post some pics in the morning and I can E-Mail the patterns for the shields if someone needs them. I made the templates out of cardboard then traced them on the aluminum. This was a real easy, cheap fix that actually works like a dream.
