New to polaris and I have a coupla questions. First, a bit of a set up for my problem. Recently bought the Polaris from a guy at work, pretty much stock, low miles/hours. Bought it for a hunting rig, not a looking to mud crawl or mountain climb. Original tires and rims. I have the wheeler, so I needed a trailer. Found a killer deal on wheeler tilt trailer, 100$, so that is taken care of. The trailer is 48 x 84 inches. Recently got a new hunting lease and the terrain is rough. These tires are in danger of puncturing at any time I am off the road. So, I need some better tires, looking at the Bearclaw HTR’s. However, I am wanting to go with a narrower rear tire for a little room on the trailer, back tires now are up against the rails on the trailer, so I cant go with a wider than stock rear tire. What I would like to do is find a steel wheel that is about the stock size of the front rim, buy four of them and then get four of the bear claw HTR’s that fit the front and put them all the way around. Also want to stay at stock 26 height. Any ideas?
I have been trying to find a set of the front rims for the 550XP and just use the stock rims, but they seem to be rare, no luck yet. So, it seems that I will need to buy some aftermarket rims. But, I havent got a clue what will work on this machine, and still keep the width under 48 inches.
