picked up an 07 sportsman 800 from a co worker. its in very good shape, ridden by his girlfirend, 1266 miles, has a lower end knock.

what should i do? rebuild or replace with a good used motor?

i have the knowlendge/expereince to rebuild, and have no problem throwing in a crank/rods. but i literally know nothing about these Polaris’s. are the engines good enough that i could just throw a good used one in and be good, or rebuild with stock parts? or are there any weak points on these motors that i would be better off rebuilding myself and attending to any issues prematurely?

its pretty much just gonna be a trail rig. i am known to whoop on my toys, but maintain them religiously.
