I do have a slight leak at my front driveshaft seal area which does slightly wet the driveshaft with oil right at the case over time and drip once in a while, but the oil level barely drops over a full OCI, so it’s not a huge leak. Could the seal possibly be some of my issue? Still, I plan to replace that seal in the near future. Has anyone done a UOA on an ATV similar to mine? I’m not exactly sure what is normal and Blackstone didn’t mention how many miles/hours those averages are based on at the far right of the chart. Thanks for any help. Here is my report below…
2005 TRX400FA Blackstone UOA (not so good results)
Hey guys. I just recently sent in an oil sample to Blackstone on my 2005 TRX400FA and got slightly less than pleasing results. They mentioned high iron, copper, silver and silicon which they said could be possible dirt contamination. I checked the air filter and everything seemed ok. I did mention that there could have been some dirt around the drain area that might have slipped into the sample, though I’m not really sure. The machine runs great, though. This was on a 550 mile/77 hour OCI on Honda GN4 10W-40.
