While riding in woods, vines got wrapped around the left front axle and pulled the end of the center shaft off. The clips did not release in the CV joint, and it pulled the end of the shaft off. Broke it at the clip groove just as smooth as if you cut it with a laser. Absolutely no other damage to the shaft, or splines, or CV joints, or anything else that I can tell. Just broke the last 1/4" off the shaft. Strangest thing I have ever seen, and I am a retired mechanical engineer who spent my whole career evaluating shaft and bearing failures.
Now for the question. Is there anywhere that I can purchase the shaft only? Polaris wants to sell me the entire axle assembly with stub shafts, CV joints, boots, etc. at an astronomical price when all I need is the splined center axle shaft.
I can buy aftermarket or used complete assemblies at much better prices than Polaris, but can’t find the shaft only, which should be really cheap compared to the assembly.
Anyone have a used shaft or know where I can buy one?
