My neighbor had a 2005 Honda Rincon 650 that has been sitting in his backyard for about 3-4 years. I recently acquired it and am attempting to get it going. I immediately changed the oil, replaced the battery, spark plug, air filter, and removed the carb. The carb had what looked like dried molasses inside of it. I purchased a new jet kit and cleaned the mess out of it. I then replaced all the jets and put it back in place. I first put carb on and it ran ok but then began leaking out the overflow. I again removed the carb and took the bowl off to find more junk had come loose. I removed the jets and cleaned everything again. The float needle began to move freely so I put everything back on. Bam, it cranked up and all is good at idle.
Problem comes at about t 3/4 throttle. It began to die. So I read to screw the fuel/air mixture screw all the way in and back it out 2 1/2 turns. Then adjust but shouldn’t need more than 3 1/2 turns out. At about 2 3/4 turns it seems to run the best. Good at idle, then at 3/4 throttle it begins to miss. No black smoke, No backfire, just skip and miss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
