I just bought a 2004 Sportsman 700 (non EFI). It runs good, but when I got it home, the idle was way too low. The throttle cable was very tight, so I put the correct amount of slack in it, and now it will not idle at all.
Oddly, there seems to be no idle screw on the carburetor. The manual shows where it should be, as well as a few searches I did online. Mine does not have one.
I am going to take the carb off tomorrow and clean it, but I am curious as to where the idle screw is, or went.
This quad has a lot of miles, and I knew going in it would need some TLC to get it where I wanted it to be. It does run good once under way, but I suspect the previous owner set the idle by cranking down the thumb throttle with the cable.
There is also a hose hanging down by the carb, and I could swear it feels like it has vacuum.
Suggestions beyond cleaning the carb.
