Hey guys, I hoping that you can help point me in the right direction. I picked up a 2004 Predator 50 from a neighbor that has been sitting for a couple of years. I was told that the neighbor tried cleaning the carb and after that point he couldn’t get the machine to run. Why he took apart the carb, I don’t know.
So, I hooked up a new battery and the only sign of life that I get is the engine oil light is on. Brake light doesn’t work, and it’s a new bulb. The horn doesn’t work either.
I’m really a novice when it comes to this kind of electrical issues. I was probing wire to see what had juice when I hit one (in a red harness) that initiated the stator and starter but I don’t have any spark. I changed the plug. I have cleaned the safety harness with no change. I accessed the stator but honestly don’t know how the measure the resistance. I also don’t know how to test the CDI, voltage regulator, coil, ASM Resistor, or starter relay.
Any suggestion on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have a response, dumb it down for the every day guy that’s trying to learn a few things.
