Hi All,
Long time reader first time poster. So I have a 2003 TRX400ex, that I bought used 8 yrs ago, it has a performance pipe and I dynojetted the carb. It has run like a champ for awhile. My problem though of late is I have been" loaning it out" in hopes of selling it soon. Let a guy borrow it. ( I know I should not, But I did) Took it out to the dunes, said it ran great for a n hour and then just stopped dead.would turn over, but not getting any spark at the plug.
1. Checked the plug, needed a new one replaced it.
2. Checked the battery voltage 11.8, put it on trickle charger over night.
3. Checked the voltage regulator, showing 11.8 volts.
4. Checked the 15 amp fuse , still intact.
5. Turn on the ignition switch, shows green lite on in neutral.
6. Hit the starter button, it turns over fine, can smell the gas , so carb is working. But still no spark.
7.Talked to other ATV friends to get an idea.
8. Consulted this forum.
9. Replaced the cdi, turns over, still not starting.
10. Replaced the solenoid, turns over, still not starting.
11. Took apart the the left handlebar switch with the lights and starter switch, cleaned it really well reinstalled.
12. Went through the wiring harness, and double checked connectors, to ensure proper seating.
13. Still will turn over, but not getting any spark.
14. After all this wanting some more advice from this community, before I throw in the towel and take it to the dealer.
15. I want to take apart the voltage reg and clean the contacts.
