2000 Recon front brakes…lack there of

Hello. Was having poor performance from my front brakes, 2000 Recon. Changed out what looked like the original shoes to the bike (also replaced the brake springs on shoes). Took bike out for test ride….same crappy front brakes.

Took the wheels off and bleed both front brakes. Still not working well, will put up a little fiction when spinning wheel up on stand, no braking to speak of on the ground. Thinking this is air somewhere in the line.

My bleeding procedure was as follows. Filled master cylinder (kept filled during process). Loosened the right wheel brake cylinder bleed screw. Put my bleeder kit on it (basically a bottle, tube and a small pointy thing on the end of tube you stick inside the bleeder screw hole. Pumped the brakes numerous times. Worked a bunch of nasty brown brake fluid out, no bubbles in fluid. Tightened bleed screw, repeat other side.

When I hit the brakes I can see the cylinders move, just very weak brakes. What did I do wrong with my bleeding (this works for my cars) and how do I bleed the system properly?

Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
