Ive been dealing with the hot lamp always being on. Google shows its a pretty common problem. After finding the FSM and following the diagnostic steps I believe the "LR60" P/N 4010164 Solid State Relay to be bad. It would appear that the LR60 on my Polaris sportsman 335 is discontinued. I assume it was only used for one year, 99. . I found a part on eBay that is listed as a replacement LR60 for a 2000 Sportsman 335 (and a few other models ranging from 00-02). I looked at the wiring diagrams i have for the 99 and 00 sportsman 335 and see that at some point in 2000 there was a change, as there are 2 different diagrams for the same year. One is the exact same as the 99 diagram, and one is different. The LR60 i found on eBay states it is an OEM polaris part, and its P/N is 2204571 and is a replacement for P/N 4010249.
My LR60 has 6 wires. 2 yellow, blue, orange, red and brown. The Ebay LR60 has 5. All the wires are the same color, minus the missing wire that is brown. According to my 99’s wiring diagram the brown wire is ground, or common. looking at the newer 2000 diagram, the 5 wires on the newer LR60 control the same functions as the old LR60 that is no longer available… I am assuming the case of the part is acting as ground, and no longer needs the 6th wire to provide it. My LR60 is inside a black plastic box, the Ebay LR60 is inside a small metal case.
By now you know my question, can I use the newer LR60 on my 4 wheeler? I would get one and test it out, but at $165, I’d rather not just buy blind…. If anyone has an educated guess, it’s welcome!!
