Hello, I’m new to the Polaris forum but not to ATV and motorcycle rebuilding. I bought a 400L that had been sitting for quite some time. Another person had tried to "fix" it. I got it home and started going through the basics. I have fixed all the electrical issues and have rebuilt the carb, checked and cleaned the reeds etc etc etc…..
The carb is set to factory specs according to the manual atm.
My cheap compression checker reads about 110 psi. Past experience applied, should be enough to at least try to start it for a 2 stroke.
It will not try to start unless I pour gas into the cylinder or the top of the carb.
The top of the piston looks good. I have not pulled the clutch off yet to check the left crank seal.
Is the 110 compression just not good enough for one of these 400’s??
I hate to pull the jug and go through all of that if there is something little I am missing that is unique to a Polaris vs. other machines to get them running.
Thanks
