1988 TRX50D Top End Rebuild

I just got the top end put back together and cranked the engine over with fresh break-in oil and a new filter. It acted like it wanted to start and run but I lost spark. I notice that oil came out of the timing indicator hole because I forgot to put the plug in.

I think that the pulse generator stator are getting drenched in oil…should oil be in there or do I have an internal oil leak?
