1988 TRX350D 4×4 Carb issues

New to the boards and the information is great. I have searched and read many carburetor post but still find myself stumped. I have a 1988 Foreman that I have taken on as a summer project. I bought it off CL with bad plastics and a boat load of potential. To my question:

I have disassembled the Keihin carb and placed a new jet kit in the unit according to the factory service manual (Ebay). I can only get the bike to run with 50% choke and it pops every once in a while. Took the carb off, had the local Honda dealer ultrasonically clean the carb body, reassembled it and now anything under 25% choke kills the bike (still pops randomly). Turning the main idle screw (in or out) does not appear to have any effect on the RPM or how the engine runs. New spark plug, checked the valve clearance, fresh 100% mid-grade (non ethanol). I feel that the carb passages are still dirty but I can’t find an exploded view to know what I’m doing if I get the wire cleaning "probes". I also noted in the manual that a plug is used on the carb post the contains the starter jet. I placed a plug in it.

Am I correct that the carb needs more cleaning? I know someone with an ultrasonic cleaner (that i can borrow) so I won’t need to pay for it if I need some more time in the ultrasonic cleaner…

I am not going to be happy until it has that legendary Honda leap to life start and steady solid idle that you know will go on forever.

Thank you in advance for your help. Gonna read more carb post now…
