Hey all, new here and an owner of a 1987 250x FourTrax and I’ve been having some carb issues. I was gifted this machine from a family friend about two months ago. After sitting for 5-6 years it started 3rd kick and ran like a top for about two weeks. Then it stopped wanting to start. I noticed gas was flowing from the carb. I went ahead and did a full tune up. New plug, new air filter, oil filter, oil change and a carb rebuild. Before the carb rebuild it would start only if I kicked it like a mad man with the thottle wide open it’d fire up for 3-5 seconds then die instantly. So in goes new jets, seals, adjustment screws and new float needle aaaaand… no start and gas overflowing still. I’m at a loss on this thing. I’ve taken the carb apart multiple times and have blown everything out with compressed air and soaked the whole thing in carb cleaner. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone know the factory settings for all adjustments on the carb? I’m thinking possibly something isn’t set right and that’s why it wont start but there’s also the issues of a new float needle and leaking gas still.. Anything helps, Thanks!
