I’d like to replace the tires on it for two reasons:
1 – the fronts are a little worn and have several sidewall cuts
2 – the rears are quite worn and a little more traction would be nice.
I love the round bouncy tires, especially on a machine like this with so little suspension, BUT, I’d sure like some traction too.
For those of you with these machines and experience with different tires, what do you think of:
Option 1
Replace all the tires with mud lites. Front 23×8-10 and rear 25×12-9.
Stock size in front is a 21×7-10, 2 ply tire.
Stock size in rear is a 25×12-9, 2 ply tire….. balloons. Nice cushy/bouncy ride.
This option gives good traction, good cornering, more clearance in the front and rear, and likely, a much rougher ride. May rob a bit of power too.
Option 2
Replace the fronts with a set of 23×7-10 tires (489 or Razr or K532) and leave the stock rears.
This option gives a soft ride, good handling, good clearance but not so good for rear traction.
BTW, I only considered 22 or 23" tall front tires as I don’t believe the clearance exists on the front for anything bigger. At full turn, the tire would rub against the rubber boot covering the front swing arm bearings.
I did also consider other fronts like the Kenda K284 in 22×8.
I have considered trying the rear tires from my foreman or big red but both are 26", 6 ply tires…. heavy and hard, but awesome traction
Any opinions on this topic on this forum?!
Thanks
