’14 xm-r 1000 caught fire! any others?

Hey I’m brand new to the forum. I Purchased a 2014 xmr 1000 back in march of this year. This past weekend I had the exhaust catch the pastics under my seat on fire (pictures bellow). It happened when stuck i was winching to my buddies bike so naturally my first incination was the winch was under such a load from the batteries that the cables to.my battery caught fire. A fuse should solve that issue from ever happening but i have had bad experiences in the past with brp electrical. However after i put the fire out with mud (my only option at the time) i investigated and found wasn’t the battery side that caught it was the other side where my exhaust and heat sheild run. It melted the plastic casing under the seat, the under side of my seat and my yellow side panel. I currently still have warrenty on the bike until september.

What I’m interested to know is A) has this happened to other members? and B) if so how many people have had to fight for warrenty.

I am bringing in the bike to be looked at by the dealer tonight. When all is said and done and it gets fixed, if other people have also had this issue, whats the remedy to stop it from happening again? I was thinking about wrapping the exhaust in header tape. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
