So I buy an ’06 400FA two years ago for $2800. I knew the engine sounded loud, but I figured it had years of life before maybe a top-end rebuild.
I take it in to get it looked at the other day and the mechanic tells me the piston and crank are so lose, they can be wiggled 1/8 inch. Lots of tapping and knocking.
I can maybe sell it for $500 to a mechanic, or I can pay $2600-$3000 for an engine rebuild. It’s in good shape otherwise.
