I am new to the forum and just recently purchased this ATV. I have fixed quite a few things thus far but one thing I am battling is getting it to idle consistently. The previous owner told me it may have some bad fuel in it. It ran great just didn’t idle. Here is what I have tried thus far. I drained the gas tank from the fuel shut off and added fresh fuel with seafoam. I ran that whole tank out and it did not help. I now have gas with mechanic in a bottle added to it. Sometimes it will idle sometimes it won’t. Today when riding I was at about 3300 rpm and it was sputtering pretty good. Then a few min later it acted like it was running out of fuel. I was able to feather the throttle and keep it running. If I get it above 3600 rpm it runs great. To me it seems like maybe the idle jet is partially blocked. It looks like getting the carb off will be quite the job. Is there another additive I can try before pulling the carb? Am I on the right track? I am open to all ideas and suggestions. I know I need to replace the spark plugs (which look like a pain to get to as well) I plan to do that this week. Anyone have the NGK part number for plugs?
Thanks in advance for the help. Sorry so long.
